Face lift, or rhytidoplasty, is a procedure that addresses facial sagging caused by the continuous effect of gravity. During the procedure, the skin and the underlying facial muscles are lifted, tightening them and removing excess tissue, resulting in a more youthful appearance of the face. The incisions are made carefully in front of and behind the ears and are not visible.
Rhytidoplasty requires either local or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the problem, and approximately one week of abstinence from daily activities for full recovery. With this procedure (rhytidoplasty), the sagging of the neck is also treated simultaneously.
In appropriate cases, other surgical procedures are also performed simultaneously (combined techniques), such as laser blepharoplasty or fractional laser, which represents the evolution of laser technology, for the improvement of wrinkles and skin texture, injectable fillers, botulinum toxin, etc.
The evolution of the classic lifting procedure is the dynamic introduction of the mini-lift, or more specifically the MACS-lift, which is equally effective but much easier both as a procedure and in terms of recovery. A major development in face lift techniques is the dramatic reduction in the extent of the incisions and the reduction of surgical time, which is an important factor for a rapid return to daily activities.
