Scars (and keloids, which represent the hypertrophic form of scars) are caused by many factors such as accidents, burns, previous surgical procedures, acne, and others.
Their appearance varies: hypertrophic scars, keloids, atrophic scars, erythematous scars, dyschromic scars, and the methods of treatment also vary.
Both surgical methods and Laser treatments or injectable products are used in plastic surgery to address the problem of scars.
Lasers can be used in cases of dyschromic or erythematous scars to make them more aesthetically acceptable. They can also be applied in certain cases of hypertrophic scars. In acne scars, they provide excellent results.
In cases of keloids, conservative treatment is required and surgical intervention should initially be avoided because of the high risk of recurrence.
Since scars cause not only aesthetic problems but also functional issues (pain during weather changes, itching, etc.), proper diagnosis and the selection of the appropriate treatment are necessary. This should be decided after a detailed discussion with the interested individual in order to avoid negative psychological effects.
With plastic surgery and Laser technology, scars of various causes can be treated, such as:
Post-traumatic scars
Postoperative scars
Acne scars
Scars of other causes
Depending on the specific problem, either classical plastic surgery methods, Laser treatments, or a combination of both may be used in order to achieve the best possible results.
