With the presence of more than 1,500 leading Plastic Surgeons from all over the world, the ISAPS congress is being held in Kyoto, Japan. ISAPS is the most powerful and most populous scientific society in the field of Aesthetic Surgery worldwide.
ISAPS includes more than 3,500 Plastic Surgeons worldwide who are strictly selected from all countries based on their scientific training and their contribution to this highly advanced surgical specialty. The main purpose of ISAPS, beyond all the other principles it represents, is “Aesthetic Education Worldwide,” meaning the global dissemination of knowledge and education in Aesthetic Surgery. This is achieved through the organization of educational and scientific activities in all countries of the world, aiming both at the continuous education of Plastic Surgeons and at the safety and satisfaction of patients within the specialty. This goal is achieved through the very strong educational committee of ISAPS, the Educational Council, which manages, regulates and organizes scientific activities around the world by sending distinguished and highly reputable Visiting Professors and speakers, members of ISAPS, to various countries.
The Chair of this Council (Education Council Chair) is selected among many distinguished Plastic Surgeons based on scientific training, contribution to the specialty and international recognition and acceptance. It is a particular honor for Greece and for Greek Plastic Surgery that, for the first time in the 40-year history of ISAPS, a Greek scientist, the distinguished Plastic Surgeon Dr. Paraskevas Kontoes, Visiting Professor of ISAPS, has been elected as Chair of the Education Council. He officially assumes the duties of President during the Congress in Kyoto.
Dr. Kontoes, known in the international plastic surgery community both for his personal techniques and for his teaching abilities, served as Vice President of the Council for the past four years, having greatly contributed to the development of continuing education for Plastic Surgeons around the world. This contribution was recognized and appreciated, leading him to the highest office of the Council.
As President of the Educational Council, Dr. Kontoes automatically occupies, according to the statutes of ISAPS, a position on the Board of Directors of the Society. Through this top scientific distinction, Dr. Kontoes, beyond the educational and training activities he will develop worldwide in cooperation with the 12 members of the Council he will lead, intends to internationally promote the scientific work of Greek Aesthetic Surgery in collaboration with Greek Plastic Surgeons who are members of ISAPS, and to contribute in the best possible way to the consolidation of its international recognition.
